Sig was founded in 1853 by the Swiss Conrad Neher and Friedrich Peyer. They were joined by firearms manufacturer Sauer und Sohn. By joining together, they wanted to circumvent the strict Swiss arms export laws, which they faced practically all the time. In order to export P220 and P230 pistols, the Virginia headquarters were transferred in 1985. The company is currently based in Exeter.
Sig Sauer is one of the five largest gun manufacturers in the world. Its domain is handguns. They have first class workmanship, extremely long life and are reliable. These are the reasons why they are used by the FBI, the US Presidential Security Service and the Navy Seals, for example.
In 2015, Sig also took the plunge into airguns, especially CO2 air rifles. All models are faithful replicas of firearms and are an ideal option for training shooting.
