Modern Technology vs Tradition

Night vision devices started to appear on the civilian market about 20 years ago. This technological advancement has even affected hunting – a traditional sport with a long history. Better equipment allows the hunter to hit the animal more accurately and minimize its suffering. These optical units magnify residual light (like the moonshine for example) and are divided into two categories – digital and analog.

Digital Night Vision

These devices utilize an electric chip which is similar to those used in camcorders and digital cameras. It is widely available and you can buy it in many different forms – as a night vision binoculars or even a night vision scope with its own reticle. The somewhat inefficient use of power and slight delay of the picture are their biggest downsides. That is however offset by their affordable price. The most popular ones on our website are definitely models from PARD and ATN.

Analog Night Vision

These devices magnify the residual light from the night sky or from the additional IR illuminator. Check out the high-end products from Night Pearl. They are divided into several generations based on their technology (Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 2+, ..). Generation 3+ is the most advanced model available for the civilian market at the moment and it can function almost entirely without an IR illuminator.
