Although the brand’s roots go back to Ukraine, all Taipan air rifles are assembled and finished in the Czech Republic. The workmanship is top-notch, thanks to precise machining of parts on modern CNC machines. The stocks are made of wood. Aircraft-grade aluminium and top-quality steel are used for the other components.
The Long version is equipped with a 550 mm long barrel, making it an excellent choice for precision shooting at longer distances. Taipan air rifles use barrels from renowned brands such as Česká Zbrojovka and Lothar Walther. The muzzle is threaded 1/2 UNF and fitted with an efficient sound moderator, making the shooting surprisingly quiet.
The air cylinder runs almost the entire length of the rifle and is finished with a clear Wika manometer. The cylinder capacity is 355 cm3 of air. To mount a riflescope you can use the 22 mm Weaver rail, which is positioned in the centre of the rifle and has a 20 MOA incline, making it ideal for long-range shooting.
Loading is done via a side lever mechanism, which is very precise and easy to operate. This is where Taipan has received several important upgrades. The first is that it is impossible to double-load a pellet, so accidental barrel blockage cannot occur. The second concerns the barrel area and the air port, which have been designed to prevent pellet deformation. The side lever can also be switched to the other side, which will be especially appreciated by left-handed shooters.
If you look at the finish of the individual parts, for example the trigger mechanism, you will see their high level of execution. This puts it ahead of much more expensive air rifles. The fully adjustable trigger mechanism is among the very best currently available on an air rifle. There is a manual safety located in front of the trigger.
The weight of the Long model is 3550 g. The package includes two magazines, each with a capacity of 10 shots, a single-shot tray adapter and a quick-fill adapter.
