Air Rifle Taipan SLASH Tactical 550mm 4.5mm

Subtle design, semi-automatic firing mode, extreme performance. These are just some of the many advantages of the brand-new PCP air rifle from the workshops of the renowned company Taipan Airguns.

As is clear at first glance, this bullpup is not just another continuation of the Veteran line. It is a completely new air rifle and it does not take a single part from previous models. That is why the designers gave it a short and fitting name Taipan SLASH.

Semi-Auto

The key feature of the new Taipan is clearly the semi-automatic firing mode. After many years of research, the designers managed to develop and patent a revolutionary valve that is characterized by exceptional opening and closing speed. The result is high performance with minimal air consumption – approximately 7–9 cm3/J. The unprecedented performance in semi-auto mode also allows the use of Slug ammunition.

PCP system

SLASH is characterized in particular by the unusual placement of the air reservoir in the stock area. The carbon bottle has a capacity of 300cc, which may seem small to some, but thanks to the minimal air consumption and maximum pressure up to 300 bar it provides a truly high number of shots per fill. The current pressure in the bottle is shown on a clear manometer.

Accuracy and magazine

Taipan air rifles are renowned for their unbeatable accuracy – and this one is no exception. This is mainly thanks to the barrel from the famous Czech company CZUB, which has specialized in the production of firearms since 1936.

Taipan SLASH offers the option of changing the calibre. This process requires replacing several internal components and therefore considerable experience with PCP systems. Always follow the manual or instructional video.

Accuracy is also enhanced by the very construction of the air rifle. Thanks to the rigid metal frame and minimal tolerances of individual components, any vibrations and flex during shooting have been suppressed.

The last feature ensuring high accuracy is the new magazine – it is not preloaded by a spring and therefore there is no risk of pellet deformation or slug deformation during cycling. A major advantage compared to other semi-auto air rifles is the possibility of easily removing the magazine by sliding back the lever above the grip. In addition, it accommodates projectiles up to 13 mm long.

Design

Among other specific features of the new Taipan is its low-profile design, with an overall height of only 17 cm without a mounted riflescope. The barrel is shrouded along its entire length, and at its end there is a highly effective integrated sound moderator. To install an external moderator, an adapter needs to be purchased.

The fore-end features several rows of M-LOK slots for mounting any accessories, and a classic Picatinny rail with 20 MOA cant is used for mounting a riflescope, which makes it easier to set up the optics for long-range shooting. As is currently in fashion, there is also a standardized AR-15 type grip, so you can easily replace it.

For comfortable shooting even at low temperatures, SLASH is equipped with an ergonomically shaped polymer cheekpiece with rubberized surface finish and the buttpad is height adjustable.

The air rifle includes two types of safety – a classic manual safety located in front of the trigger, and a second automatic safety that prevents a shot when the magazine is removed.

Note 1: The package includes 2 magazines. One is intended for classic pellets (magazine with an opening on the rear surface) and the other is intended for slug-type ammunition (without opening). They differ in the diameter of the cartridge chamber. Always use the appropriate magazine. The exception is calibre 4.5 mm, where the diameter of the cartridge chambers is identical for both pellets and slugs. This calibre therefore includes 2 universal magazines for both types of ammunition. Attention, to ensure proper function, each round must be carefully pushed past the plastic ball inside the magazine.

Note 2: Every semi-automatic PCP air rifle currently available on the market is continuously in a fully cocked (loaded) condition, which can be dangerous during handling and can also cause faster wear of internal components. The charging handle on the right side serves both for the initial loading (cocking) of the air rifle and for subsequent unloading (deactivation). Simply pull the handle back and hold it firmly, press the trigger and carefully move the handle back to its original position. This unloads the rifle.

Note 3: We strongly advise against making any adjustments to the air rifle, especially to the trigger mechanism and pressure regulator. Both systems are factory set to ensure correct operation of the semi-automatic mode. Incorrect adjustment of the trigger and regulator may cause the air rifle to jam.

Note 4: The air rifle is factory-set to a muzzle energy at which, with the test ammunition used (listed in the parameter table), it achieves the best accuracy and optimal air consumption. The values in the table below can be achieved by simply readjusting the pressure regulator. To increase / decrease the possible range, you can purchase the so-called Power Kit. It consists of 4 components that must be replaced in the air rifle. The maximum recommended regulator pressure is 170 bar. To reach a higher pressure, up to 220 bar, you can purchase the tuning regulator.
