New videos and reviews every day 6000+ reviews from our customers The German company Umarex, more precisely their division T4E (Training for Engagement), presents the second generation of the best-selling revolver for rubber and pepper projectiles called TR50 Gen2. It is clear that the manufacturer has listened to customer feedback and introduced welcome changes, while not unnecessarily modifying anything that works flawlessly.
The most significant difference compared to the original version (11J) is the increase in power up to 13J, which makes it one of the most powerful short RAM guns in .50 calibre.
The second major change is the new valve for activating the 12 g CO2 cartridge. It has been modified so it can be easily loosened by hand without the need for an Allen key. It still performs its function flawlessly – in case of threat you just need to tap it lightly with your palm, which pierces the neck of the cartridge and the gun is then ready to fire. A revolver prepared in this way can be carried for an unlimited time without risking degradation of the sealing O-rings. After activation, a so‑called indicator pops up above the grip, showing that the revolver is pressurised.
Other minor changes include a non-slip grip texture, sights with fibre-optic light-guiding rods to make aiming easier even in low-light conditions, a top Picatinny rail extended by 1 slot for easier mounting of a larger red dot sight, and a deeper recess around the magazine release.
The bottom Picatinny rail for mounting a laser or tactical light and the convenient trigger-integrated safety remain unchanged.
As ammunition, you can use any RAM balls, such as rubber, pepper or marking projectiles. Thanks to the rotary magazine, the revolver is also compatible with non-spherical projectiles.

Since the gun is powered by CO2 cartridges, the rubber seals may gradually become brittle and crack due to the freezing carbon dioxide. You can prevent this by occasionally applying silicone oil: 1) spray, where you simply spray the internal mechanism, 2) applying a few drops of silicone oil to the neck of the inserted cartridge, 3) using an oil cartridge (the easiest way). At the same time, we do not recommend leaving an activated cartridge in the gun longer than necessary. If you know you will not be shooting for a while, vent the pressure by loosening the valve.
