The Umarex T4E TR 68 Gen2 revolver is an uncompromising means of self-defense in a relatively compact package - as it offers a level of stopping power found only in much larger RAM shotguns.
AMMUNITION & MAGAZINE
It can use all kinds of .68 caliber RAM projectiles as ammunition, such as rubber, pepper or marking balls. The 5-round rotary magazine is also compatible with Precision series non-spherical projectiles. To eject the magazine, simply slide the locking handle located on the left side of the revolver forward and down.
PROPULSION & QUICK ACTIVATION SYSTEM
The revolver is powered by a single 12g CO2 cartridge that is inserted into the grip. That way, you can carry the revolver indefinitely without the risk of the sealing rings degrading. To activate it, it is necessary to strike the valve with the palm of the hand, which will pierce the cartridge and the revolver is ready to fire. When activated, an indicator pops up above the grip, signaling that the revolver is under pressure. The manufacturer states that one cartridge is sufficient for 10 full power shots - i.e. 2 magazines.
CONSTRUCTION
Although it is a gun primarily designed for short-range self-defense, the 170mm long barrel achieves surprising accuracy to some extent. This is particularly useful for recreational or training target shooting. And if you wish to equip the revolver with a red dot sight, there is a fairly long Picatinny rail above the barrel. Second rail is located underneath for the eventual installation of a laser sight or flashlight.
The internal assembly consists of a combination of aluminium and cast alloy parts. The whole is then protected by a robust body made of durable polymer, resulting in a total weight of just 773 grams. The ergonomic grip is textured on all sides to ensure secure handling.
In order to guarantee the fastest possible fire readiness, the revolver does not feature any safety switch, which could become rather annoying in case of self-defense. Instead, the safety is located directly inside the trigger blade, where it only prevents accidental discharge in case of a catch on the side of the trigger blade.
T4E 2ND GENERATION
Similar to the other Umarex T4E 2nd generation products, this model also received the new CO2 cartridge quick activation valve. It no longer requires any tools to depressurize the gun. The second, and very welcome change, is the front sight with a light-guiding fiber, making it easier to aim in low-light conditions.
Maintenance
Since the gun is powered by CO2 cartridges, the sealing rings can become brittle and crack when exposed to the freezing carbon dioxide over time. This can be prevented by occasional application of silicone oil 1) by a spray bottle, where you simply coat the internal mechanism, 2) by applying a few drops of silicone oil to the nozzle of the inserted cartridge 3) by using an oil cartridge (easiest). It’s also not recommended to leave the activated cartridge in the gun for longer than necessary. If you know you won't be shooting for a while, release the pressure by loosening the valve.
