Spring air pistols are an ideal choice for those who do not want to keep buying
CO2 cartridges. The principle is similar to that of a spring air rifle. Usually,
it is enough to “break” the barrel and insert one pellet. Some models, for
example from Crosman, even have a magazine and the spring is cocked using the
slide, similar to a live firearm.
The American manufacturer Crosman has introduced a replica of the well-known Russian TOKAREV pistol under the designation Crosman TT 4.5mm. At first glance you can see the very high-quality metal construction of the frame, which can withstand even rough handling.
The magazine has a capacity of 18 steel BBs and is located in the pistol grip. The pistol is powered by a 12gr CO2 cartridge, which is placed under the removable plastic grip panels. The number of shots from one cartridge is approx. 80.
CO2 system principle: The cartridge is inserted into the gun and is pierced on the pin by mechanical closure. When the trigger is pulled, the hammer hits the valve striker and the valve opens. Gaseous CO2 from the cartridge then flows through and propels the shot out of the barrel.
Single Action - a shot after cocking the hammer and then semi-automatic firing
Double Action - the hammer does not need to be cocked first for rapid fire
Practical experience: This is a well-made replica of the TOKAREV pistol. We very much appreciate its robust construction as well as its economical use of CO2 cartridges. This pistol is really not demanding in terms of CO2 gas consumption, and it is not unusual to get as many as 100 shots from one CO2 cartridge.
