Stylish laminate version of the air rifle Caiman from the proven Czech manufacturer AirMaks Arms.
The Version X has an extended barrel to 520mm, making it much more accurate than the standard version. At its end there is a sound moderator consisting of 3 segments. For installing an additional sound moderator, the last segment is equipped with a standard 1/2UNFx20 thread.
The air cylinder has also gained in volume – it now has 285cc. When you combine this with a working pressure of 300 bar, you get a respectable number of shots per fill. The remaining pressure is indicated by a recessed manometer on the left side of the fore-end.
A pressure regulator helps maintain a consistent pellet velocity by allowing only a pre-set amount of air to pass through, thereby eliminating the drop in power as the pressure in the air cylinder decreases.
Despite the extended barrel, Caiman still retains its compact dimensions with an overall length of 695mm thanks to its bullpup design.
The side lever is located on the left side, but if needed you can move it to the other side. As is usual with air rifles from AirMaks, the cocking mechanism here also has a surprisingly smooth and fluid action.
The manual safety is not designed as on most air rifles in the form of a rotary switch, but as a brass pin, which must be pushed from the right side to disengage. Note that the manufacturer strongly advises against charging the air rifle with the safety engaged – this could cause irreversible damage to the internal mechanism.
For mounting a riflescope there is a 22mm rail canted by 20 MOA for easier scope adjustment for long-range shooting. At the end of the stock there is a comfortable height-adjustable rubber butt pad. For optional bipod installation, a UIT rail is located on the underside of the fore-end.
