The Czech company AirMaks Arms has in recent years focused on refining their proven products and this time we can introduce this beautiful model, the AirMaks Katran with a fixed laminate stock (version W).
The laminate stock gives the Katran a unique look and above all it fits the hand perfectly. In addition, it is equipped with a height-adjustable ambidextrous cheekpiece and a rubber butt pad.
All other components of the air rifle remain unchanged – after all, why change something that works. And the Katran works really well.
The highly accurate rifled barrel is shrouded along its entire length, which also reinforces it and slightly reduces the noise when firing. At its end there is a baffle-type sound moderator consisting of 3 segments. For installing an additional sound moderator, the last baffle is fitted with a standard 1/2UNFx20 thread.
A pressure regulator helps to maintain a consistent velocity of the pellets by allowing only a preset amount of air through, thereby eliminating the drop in power as the pressure in the air cylinder decreases.
Equally well thought out is the loading system, which has an incredibly smooth and fluid action. The side lever is located just above the trigger, so you can reload with one finger in a split second, and it can easily be switched to the other side. The anti double-feed system that prevents loading two pellets at once is also a welcome feature.
The robust aluminium forend of the air rifle is equipped with KeyMod slots for installing a bipod, the manual safety is located above the fully adjustable trigger, and a metal 22 mm rail with a 20 MOA incline is provided for mounting a rifle scope, making it easier to set up the scope for long‑range shooting.
