The TM4 RIS is a weapon powered by a 12g CO2 cartridge placed in the magazine. When fixing it in place, the CO2 cartridge is pierced on the pin and the weapon is pressurised. Before the first shot, the hammer mechanism must be cocked, the movement of the bolt then takes care of the rest. Part of the energy taken from the cartridge is used to generate an authentic recoil – BlowBack. The manufacturer states that a single cartridge is enough for approximately 40 shots, which is just under three magazines. The energy can reach up to 7.5 J and the muzzle velocity approaches 125 m/s – accurate shooting is therefore possible up to approx. 25 metres.
The magazine holds 14 rounds of Rubber Ball ammunition in .43 calibre (10.9 mm). This ammunition is sold in several variants.
The authenticity of the replica is the top priority with the TM4 RIS model, so the rifle – just like the live AR-15 – is available with a Full-Auto mode. If you get tired of automatic fire, simply move the lever located on the left above the trigger to the Semi position. The same lever then puts the rifle on safe against unintentional discharge – just turn it to the Safe position.
The design once again closely follows the original. The receiver, barrel, stock, magazine and elements of the internal mechanism are made of metal. This metal core is wrapped in a shell made of durable polymer, which is also used for the pistol grip and fore-end grip. The weight is only 2.7 kg (2770 g). The build is, however, very robust and can withstand tougher conditions during tactical training.
In the factory configuration, the weapon is supplied with vertically and horizontally adjustable sights and a variable extendable stock.
The rifle is equipped with several 22mm Picatinny rails (three of them are under the removable polymer handguard), to which a wide range of accessories can be attached. You can equip the RAM submachine gun with a laser, a flashlight and a red dot sight – the options are exceptionally diverse.
The trigger mechanism is of the Single Action type – a single pull is enough and the weapon fires immediately. The trigger also has a very smooth action.
