Umarex is entering the market with the Colt Government M45 CQPB FDE model. This pistol has a perfect full-metal design and is powered by 12g CO2 cartridges. At first glance, everyone will notice the colour scheme, which is FDE - Military Desert. An advantage is that the magazine is separate and both the cartridges and the ammunition are inserted into it. This pistol model is equipped with plastic grip panels that fit comfortably in every hand. We appreciated the so‑called double safety, which works after cocking the hammer via a classic safety above the grip and a grip safety.
If you want to shoot, you must have the rear part of the grip pressed. These safeties are not just decorative imitations, but both are functional, which is unusual for air pistols. BlowBack – the movement of the slide during shooting provides a realistic feeling like with a live‑fire model. Principle of the CO2 system: The cartridge is inserted into the gun and is pierced on the pin by mechanical closing. After pulling the trigger, the hammer strikes the valve striker and the valve opens. The gaseous CO2 then starts to flow from the cartridge and propels the pellet out of the barrel. This gun is equipped with a smooth barrel designed for shooting steel BBs, but thanks to its length the shooting is sufficiently accurate.
Practical experience: At first sight, the gun impresses with its excellent workmanship. Thanks to the functional safeties, this replica is really successful and functionally identical to the original. While shooting we also appreciated the Blowback system, which drew us more into the shooting experience. We recommend this pistol for quality hobby shooting.
