The Black Forest Spalthammer from German manufacturer Helko Werk is a durable heavy headed chopper that is perfect for splitting large trees, hard firewood and difficult logs. The head has an ideal splitting cline profile and you can use the back of the head as a hammer. At the bottom of the blade there is a hook for turning logs.
The head is made of hand forged C45 carbon steel with a hardness of 53 - 56 HRC. The blade is hand ground and the trademark Helko crown is stamped. The head weighs 2800 g.
Also worth mentioning is the white walnut (hickory) handle with a total length of 80 cm. The wood used to make the hickory is carefully selected to ensure the best possible texture.
As an added bonus, a practical cowhide holster comes with this model. The total weight is 3600 g.
