Czech manufacturer Airgun Royal introduces a brand-new model in the world of air rifles, the Thunder. The main advantage of this modern PCP air rifle is the possibility of changing the caliber. Using a conversion kit, you can easily change the 5.5 mm caliber to 6.35 mm while maintaining the same weight and length of the rifle.
The air rifle is made in the popular Bullpup configuration with an ergonomic beech stock, which is suitable for both right- and left-handed shooters. The controls are also designed accordingly and are ambidextrous. The side biathlon-style cocking system has a smooth operation and can be swapped to the other side. A standard 22 mm Weaver rail is used for mounting a riflescope.
The manufacturer has also focused on safety; the rifle is equipped with a manual safety, located directly above the trigger and easily accessible with the “strong hand” finger. The second safety feature is the striker safety at the rear of the action. Below it there is a loaded chamber indicator, which signals a pellet loaded in the barrel.
The highly accurate barrel from Lothar Walther is 520 mm long, which applies to both available calibers. It is covered along its entire length by an integrated moderator, making the shot very quiet. To achieve a stable performance, a pressure regulator is built into the rifle. An adjustable trigger is a matter of course.
The air cylinder has a working pressure of up to 300 BAR and its volume is 350 cm³. The pressure gauge from Wika is, as always, easy to read and is located on the front of the cylinder; right behind it is the filling port for quickfill.
Two magazines are supplied with the rifle, with a capacity of 15 pellets in 5.5 mm caliber. Their simple and robust design should be highlighted, as it makes the rifle even more reliable.
