All three slots are clearly marked with numbers, so there is no risk of confusion.
When sharpening a knife, pull the blade towards you – from the heel to the tip. To keep the sharpener stable, hold the body of the sharpener with your weaker hand and pull the knife through the slot with your stronger hand. Rubber feet prevent the bottom edge from sliding unintentionally on the surface.
The sharpener can be used for all knives with a smooth steel blade, including meat cleavers.
