Shimano

The company was founded in 1921 in Osaka, Japan, by Shozaburo Shimano. In the 1970s it started producing reels, rods and coolers. Today Shimano is divided into three divisions – cycling, outdoor sports and fishing. The brand’s philosophy is to manufacture products that support people’s connection with nature.

Shimano reels

The Big Baitrunner lc 140 000 reel is a popular choice for trophy carp anglers. The Baitrunner is suitable for bottom fishing when you need a free-spool reel. Another popular reel, the Shimano Catana, is available in two variants. Catana 1000 RC for spinning and Catana 4000 FD for spinning, feeder, match and general coarse fishing. The trio is rounded off by the range of front-drag reels Shimano Ultegra. SPOD XTD is a high-quality carp reel designed for fishing with spods or markers.

Shimano rods

The brand produces spinning, telescopic, carp, feeder, match rods and also whip poles. Beginner anglers will appreciate the Joy Feeder 300 rod. It has an EVA foam handle, a fibreglass blank and an interchangeable tip. Also popular is the slightly more advanced two-piece Shimano Alivio rod. DX Spinning 210 m is exceptionally fast and slim thanks to its progressive XT30 blank. With a rod fitted with Shimano Hardlite guides you can fish with monofilament as well as braided lines. More experienced anglers will be pleased with the Shimano Tribal carp rod. The TX9A 12300 is capable of casting up to 198 metres.
