The history of the American company Rite in the Rain began in 1916. Entrepreneur Jerry Darling realised that the timber industry needed durable paper that you could write on and that would withstand adverse weather.

After many attempts, he managed at home to create a sheet with a special moisture-protective coating. This is how the world’s first waterproof paper was created. Over the years, its water resistance was gradually improved and eventually patented.
