The Vector Optics Tauron GenII 3-24x56 ED MIL FFP riflescope offers variable magnification of 3–24×, a large 56 mm objective lens and Japanese ED glass with LaREE lenses for maximum light transmission. The VTA-5 MIL reticle is located in the first focal plane (FFP), adjustment is in 0.1 MIL steps, and the robust 34 mm tube made of 6061‑T6 aluminium alloy is sealed to IP67 standard, nitrogen-filled, and withstands recoil forces of 1000 G.
Optical system
Variable magnification of 3–24× allows the riflescope to be used at both shorter and longer distances. The bright 56 mm objective in combination with Japanese ED glass and LaREE lenses ensures high contrast and faithful detail rendition even in low-light conditions. All optical surfaces are treated with FMC Fully Multi-coated layers that maximise light transmission and reduce reflections. The result is 93% light transmission.
Reticle
The VTA-5 MIL reticle is designed in milliradians for precise and repeatable correction measurements. It is located in the first focal plane (FFP), so its size changes depending on the magnification. The riflescope does not have reticle illumination, so no battery is needed.
Mechanical features
The elevation turret offers a Zero Stop function, which allows reliable return of the elevation setting to a preselected zero value. The turrets click in fine 1/10 MIL steps, parallax is adjustable from 10 yards to infinity, and diopter adjustment in the range of -2 to +2 D allows the eyepiece to be adapted to the shooter’s eyesight without the need for glasses.
Construction and durability
The riflescope uses a 34 mm tube made of 6061-T6 aluminium alloy. The tube is filled with nitrogen to prevent fogging in changing temperature conditions, and the construction is waterproof to the IP67 standard. Resistance of 1000 G corresponds to the recoil of calibres such as .300, .308 and .338, so the riflescope is suitable even for more powerful firearms. The eye relief of 95 mm provides a comfortable distance from the eyepiece and contributes to safe use with heavier calibres.
