Historical original
Pattern 1853 Enfield was a British percussion rifle-musket introduced for infantry use in 1853. The historical firearm was a .577 calibre muzzle-loading rifle with three grooves in the bore and three metal barrel bands connecting the barrel to the fore-end. It was used in the Crimean War of 1854–1856, and both sides of the American Civil War also used it in large numbers.
