Colt Model 1851 Navy was an American percussion revolver designed by Samuel Colt and manufactured from 1850 to 1873. The historical firearm used .36 calibre and a six-chamber cylinder; it was among the most widespread Colt percussion revolvers and was extensively used during the American Civil War. The designation “Navy” referred to the calibre, not necessarily to naval service.
