The Vector Optics Tauron GenII 3-24x56 ED MIL FFP riflescope offers variable 3–24× magnification, a large 56mm objective lens and Japanese ED glass with LaREE lenses for maximum light transmission. The VTA-5 MIL reticle is positioned in the first focal plane (FFP), adjustments are made in 0.1 MIL increments, and the robust 34mm tube made from 6061‑T6 aluminium alloy is sealed to IP67 standards, nitrogen-filled and able to withstand 1000 G.
Optical system
Variable 3–24× magnification allows the riflescope to be used at shorter to longer distances. The large 56 mm objective lens, combined with Japanese ED glass and LaREE lenses, ensures high contrast and faithful detail rendition even in low-light conditions. All optical surfaces feature FMC Fully Multi-coated coatings, which maximise light transmission and reduce reflections. The result is 93% light transmission.
Reticle
The VTA-5 MIL reticle is designed in milliradians for precise and repeatable measurement of corrections. It is positioned in the first focal plane (FFP) and therefore changes size with magnification. The riflescope has no reticle illumination, so no battery is required.
Mechanical features
The elevation turret offers a Zero Stop function, which allows the elevation adjustment to return reliably to a preset zero setting. The turrets adjust in fine 1/10 MIL increments, parallax is adjustable from 10 yards to infinity, and dioptre adjustment over a range of -2 to +2 D allows the eyepiece to be adapted to the shooter's eyesight without the need for glasses.
Construction and durability
The riflescope uses a 34mm tube made from 6061-T6 aluminium alloy. The tube is filled with nitrogen to prevent fogging in changing temperature conditions, and the construction is waterproof to the IP67 standard. Its 1000 G resistance corresponds to the recoil of calibres such as .300, .308 and .338, making the riflescope suitable for more powerful firearms as well. The 95 mm eye relief provides a comfortable distance between the eye and the eyepiece and contributes to safe use with more powerful calibres.
