Pellets are made from lead. The most commonly used calibers are .177 (4,5 mm), .22 (5,5 mm) and .25 (6,35 mm). Choosing the right type of ammunition can have a massive effect on your accuracy.
There is one massive difference between steel BBs and lead pellets. Steel BBs can only be used with airguns outfitted with smoothbore barrels. Regular air rifles usually have rifled barrels which will give the pellet the necessary rotation to keep it stable. This is very important for its accuracy.
Czech manufacturer JSB Match Diabolo is known for their innovative technologies and highly accurate pellets. Some shooters even claim that the JSB pellets are the best in the world. They are divided into several series. The universal Exact pellets can be used for both target shooting and hunting. The Match series comes with flat heads and are especially designed for short range target shooting while JSB Predator pellets were made exclusively for hunting. Their newest model was named after the Greek god of the underworld – Hades.
