The Vortex Spitfire AR is a well-made closed red dot sight with which you won't
waste ammunition. The high quality DRT (Dual Ring Tactical) reticle helps to
keep reaction time to a minimum even on moving targets. However, the system is
not dependent on illumination as the intent DRT is etched, so Spitfire can be
used as a conventional rifle scope.

The Vortex Spitfire AR is a well designed closed red dot sight made of durable aluminum alloy. The waterproof body is filled with nitrogen, so even sudden temperature changes won't disrupt it (it doesn't fog up). It is mounted on the gun via 22 mm picatinny/weaver rails and it is suitable for popular AR-15 rifles.
The high quality DRT (Dual Ring Tactical) reticle helps to minimize reaction time even on moving targets. The backlight has two modes, namely green and red. Both states have twelve brightness levels – the lowest ones then allow the red dot sight to be used in combination with night vision. The central point of reticle has a diameter of 3 MOA, the inner circle has a diameter of 50 MOA and the outer circle has a diameter of 143 MOA.
However, the system is not dependent on illumination, as the reticle is etched into the glass, and thus the sight can be used as a conventional rifle scope. The sight system is also adjustable by means of horizontal and vertical correction solved via two turrets with caps on the body of the tube. The vertical turret can be replaced with the included BDC (Bullet Drop Compensation) turret, which offers a more readable (than MOA) ballistic compensation in yards. The eyepiece has a dioptric correction that can deal with, for example, astigmatism; the anti-reflective glass surface increases Spitfire's luminosity.
The whole system is powered by a classic AAA battery, which is included in the package. Its lifetime is up to 250 hours at the highest brightness, at the lowest this value climbs up to 3000 hours.
