What Is A Trail Camera?

It is a special kind of camera that is capable of capturing photos or videos both during the day and night. It gets activated once the IR sensor registers some movement, like a human or an animal. These devices are small and easy to hide if placed correctly. Hunters often use them for tracking wildlife in its natural habitat but they can also be useful for monitoring and protection of your property from intruders.

Trail Cameras With GSM Modules

A trail camera with the GSM module can immediately send photos to your smartphone or email inbox. It will let you know about the movement of wildlife or if someone is trespassing on your property. You can also download photos or videos if your model is outfitted with Wi-Fi. The most popular trail cameras on our website come from Czech manufacturer Bunaty.

How To Choose The Right One

Motion Sensor Range

It determines the maximum distance from which the IR sensor can detect movement. Some high-end models have a maximum range of 20 meters.

Field Of View

Having the right field of view is crucial. A narrower field of view allows for a larger range while the wider one has its range reduced. It is important to know where you are going to place your trail camera and how big of an area you want to cover with it.

IR Illuminator Wavelength

940 nm illuminator – it’s invisible to human eyes and that makes it perfect for home security and property protection. Its biggest downside is the shorter range.

850 nm illuminator –  it usually has a longer range but it can give off a slight glow when capturing photos.
